Dedication Concert for the NEW Pipe Organ
St. Callistus Chapel in the undercroft of Christ Cathedral
DATE AND TIME TBD
Come celebrate the completion of the organ for the new St. Callistus Chapel in the undercroft of Christ Cathedral and hear a renowned concert organist show off the beautiful sounds of the Christ Cathedral Campus’s newest pipe organ. Originally built by the legendary Schoenstein company from northern California for a private residence, this gorgeous instrument will be rebuilt and tailored to serve both liturgical and concert opportunities in Christ Cathedral’s newest worship space, complete with a brand new pipe case designed by the Chapel’s architects and even featuring crystal drawknobs on the console as a homage to Christ Cathedral’s history as the Crystal Cathedral.
Schoenstein Organs are known for the integrity of their craftsmanship and the beauty of each of their pipe’s tone. Their organs make beautiful music in some of the world’s most famous musical spaces including St. Michael’s Abbey here in Orange County; the Juilliard School and Fordham University in New York City; the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe, Orlando, Florida; and Georgetown University, Washington, DC. We are thrilled to welcome this new Schoenstein organ to the campus to complement the Hazel Wright Organ (Fratelli Ruffatti), the Fred Swann Memorial Organ (Aeolian-Skinner), and the Bob Tall Organ (Rodgers).

Spem in Alium | Hope in God Alone
A Choral Adoration
As part of the Eucharistic Revival, Christ Cathedral welcomes you to a solemn, musical evening of Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. In addition to singing O salutaris hostia and Tantum ergo, the prescribed hymns for Exposition and Benediction, spend a holy hour in quiet adoration and reflection while listening to some of the most beautiful sacred choral and organ music including Gregorio Allegri's famous Miserere (featuring Alyce Reynaud, Soprano soloist), Jessica French's recently composed Tantum Ergo, and a new arrangement of Ralph Vaughan Williams' Master Tallis's Testament that will feature both of the Hazel Wright Organ's five-manual consoles played simultaneously. The evening's musical meditations will culminate with Thomas Tallis's rarely-performed motet Spem in Alium (Hope in God Alone), written for 40-parts, sometimes referred to as the "Mount Everest" of choral music.
